SWCO – Day 1 Recap Thoughts

Day 1 of Star Wars Celebration Ontario had many rememberable moments.

40th Anniversary Panel

George Lucas was the first individual brought to the stage to a standing ovation.  This was an important meeting as George’s comments about The Force Awakens indicated some kind of (unwanted) tension between him and Lucasfilm/Disney.  But perhaps he loved Rogue One enough to easy some tensions that the baby he built really is in good hands.

The 40th Anniversary Panel turned into a bit of a “George Lucas This is Your Life”.

Haden Christensen got a standing ovation.

Harrison Ford showed up to his first celebration in… a long time.  This was unexpected, but always a welcome surprise.  We got

We even got a trailer.  This time though we got a memorial to the late Carrie Fisher.  George, Kathleen Kennedy, and Billie Lourd spoke passionately about what Carrie meant to them, to film, and to Star Wars.

At lastly, John Williams showed up with a full orchestra (the Orlando Symphony Orchestra) and performed all the greatest Star Wars hits starting with Leia’s theme.

Warwick Davis also hosted the Tales from the Dark Side panel with Ian McDiarmid.  Ian McDiarmid always provides an entertaining talk
